WellPCB selects the materials based on the thickness the PCB or finished laminate will take.

Furthermore, the quantity of resin necessary for bonding and filling is another factor that they consider.

Apart from the thickness, other secondary properties like stiffness, costs, CTE control, and dielectric constant also determine the specific choice.

Processes involved in the Construction.

The first step in the Construction of Fiberglass boards starts with the warp beams. These beams are made of thousands of single strands of yarn rolling around the main shaft.

The thread determines the machine route that the fabric will follow.

The next step is to cut the warp yarns or pass them through lubricant solutions or sizing agents to prevent them from being damaged during weaving.

It then goes through the weaving process, which commences when the warp beam is mounted on the loom’s back.

The fill yarns are put in as the warp yarns go through from behind the loom to the front.

Formerly, the looms used were draper looms that used the wooden shuttle to fill the threads, but recently, new looms have been used.

These new looms operate on a water jet or air, enabling the plane to carry the fill yarn over to the loom. With these newly upgraded looms, you can get a thousand meters of warped rope in just a single beam. This will enable you to produce as much as one loom weekly.

The final step is to scour the electric-graded glasses with a thorough water rinse. This will help to clean out the excessive sizing caused by warp yarns.

The finishing on the Fiberglass fabric indeed results in a bit of material: the important thing is how the resin wets the surface during the pre-pegging process.
