Conformal Coating

A conformal coating is a thin polymeric film that conforms to the contours of a printed circuit board to secure the board’s parts. Conformal coatings are a defensive, non-conductive dielectric layer added to a circuit board or electronic device. Typically applied at 25-250µm, it covers and protects solder joints, the leads of electronic components, uncovered traces, and other metalized areas from corrosion, in the end, operating environment, ultimately extending the working life of the PCB.

When Should I Use Conformal Coating?

The coating is skinny, making it an excellent choice for some circuit boards and devices, particularly those with strict weight or thickness restrictions.

Circuit boards in cell phones, for instance, are often put in tiny spaces. In situations like these, conformal coating is a perfect option.

How do conformal coatings work?

A conformal coating is a defensive boundary that shields sensitive electronic parts against cruel natural conditions, for example, dampness, chemicals, and debris. Conformal coatings are a breathable protective layer that will protect against the particular environment requirement yet permit any water caught in the circuit board getaway. They are not designed to be a total sealant.

The particular advantages of conformal coatings can be summarized as follows:

1.Insulating properties allow a reduction in PCB conductor spacing of more than 80%.

2.Completely protect the assembly against chemical and corrosive attacks.

3.Eliminate potential performance degradation due to environmental hazards.

Finally, the conformal coating allows protection without significant additions to the weight or thickness of the device.

Our professional engineering support saves our customers a lot of trouble and loss. >>>>>> After you place the order, our engineer will conduct technical reviews to make sure the parts can be mounted well/correctly on the boards. We will check if the component packages match well with the Gerber footprints, if the part numbers you provided match well with the descriptions, and if the polarity is clearly marked. >>>>> When your design is ready, please send your Gerber and BOM so we can quote and start!
